About Get Active in the Park:
The National Parks of Southern West Virginia and Active Southern West Virginia have teamed up to help you this partnership, Get Active in the Park! Together, we provide free, beginner-level instruction to the New River Gorge region in hiking, yoga, rocking climbing, stand up paddle boarding, tai chi, fly fishing, hiking, and more – all within your national parks! This program is led by trained Active SWV Community Captains that volunteer to teach you their favorite outdoor activity, building a network of neighbors committed to using outdoor spaces for health and wellness. Get Active in the Park empowers our community to see outdoor spaces as a place for health and wellness to take place.
Get Active in the Park activities are perfect for grand-families, groups with multiple interests, and individuals. All are welcome!
Youth are encouraged to attend but must be accompanied by a guardian and the adult must stay on site during the activity.
This project was made possible by a funding award from the
National Park Service and Outdoor Foundation.
