I hope you and your family are safe and well. We understand these are unique times and you are facing difficult decisions every day about your daily and weekly routines.
Active Southern West Virginia has decided to limit personal contact through the month of June to focus on continuing to bring you online resources. Bare with us, we are in the background preparing in-person programs to deliver the social supports greatly needed to recover from the medical, economic, and emotional toll this has taken on our communities.
Use the month of June to invite your immediate friends and family to be active with you. Extend the invitation to meet online, over the phone, and distanced in your neighborhoods. Having companionship in healthy behaviors will make you more successful in reaching your goals.
Wait, you need a goal? Explore below all the ways you can safely be active with your friends and family right now!
Stay safe and active,

Walk in the Park at Fayette County Park
November 28, 2018 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm
An event every week that begins at 10:00 am on Wednesday, repeating until March 31, 2019
Active SWV is pleased to announce a partnership with Fayette County Park to offer a free weekly physical activity program. Starting January 31,2018 at 10:00am meet Community Captains Charity Wysong and Hilarie Jones for a Walk in the Park at Fayette County Park in Beckwith, WV. Both Active SWV and Fayette County Park are excited to be able to offer this free weekly program to help increase physical activity opportunities in our community.
Increasing physical activity is a great way to decrease some of the negative health outcomes that our communities are facing. The goal of this partnership is to decrease barriers that keep people from starting a physical activity program. Walking groups are a great way to overcome some of those barriers. It’s great for beginners, people of all ability levels and ages, and it also provides a great social support system that will help people continue with their personal physical activity goals.
Active Southern West Virginia seeks to improve the health of all southern West Virginians by providing opportunities for active lifestyles.
If you would like more information about this topic or starting a walking group of your own, please contact Erin Reid at 304-254-8488 or email at [email protected].
