Bridge Day Bicycle Valet Powered by Active SWV & New River Bicycle Union

Active Southern West Virginia and The New River Bicycle Union are co-hosting a bicycle valet service during the 2016 Bridge Day Festival. Event attendees will have bicycle storage at both ends of the New River Gorge Bridge. The valet service on the north side of the bridge will be set up on the side of Rt 19 at the entrance road to the Canyon Rim Visitors Center. The south side bicycle valet will be in the parking lot beside Studio B Art Boutique and Maggie’s Pub to accommodate attendees traveling from the Fayetteville side of the bridge.

A bicycle valet service allows a large number of bikes to be securely stored in a relatively small area without individuals having to worry about locking their bicycles and reduces problems for other pedestrian traffic trying to get to the event.  It also creates a gathering point for cyclists attending the event — this encourages people to ride. The event and community benefit from the decrease in demand for car parking.

The service will be free of charge and both groups will be have information about their organizations, but donations are welcome. If you are interested in volunteering for a 2-3 hour shift please contact Active SWV’s Andy Davis for more information ([email protected]).
