Active Southern West Virginia Signature Events bring quality fundraising events to southern West Virginia. These fee based races raise funds for the free programs of Active SWV while providing more opportunity for family friendly and beginner racers. Each Signature Event has its own page to learn more. The West Virginia Wild & Wonderful Race Series is a partnership of local race directors offering high quality race events across the state to showcase world class locations, run-cation experiences, healthy activities, and make positive economic impacts in our communities. The WV Race Series is a partnership between Greenbrier River Trail Marathon, Appalachian Timing Group, Canaan Valley Running Company, and Active Southern West Virginia to co-brand 7 race weekends in 2023.
In order to be eligible for Series Swag you must do one of the following:
By completing one race in three regions – you will earn a commemorative shirt ($30 value)!
By completing one race in all four regions – you will earn BOTH a commemorative shirt ($30 value) and commemorative hoodie ($65 value)!

Active SWV’s Family TRY-athlon is a free event at Lake Stephen’s designed to give kids and families a chance to get active TOGETHER! Try out running, biking, and stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) all in one day. Active SWV will have equipment and volunteers ready to help you try out a bike course, marked run, and SUP!

Come out for a fun day of golf, special event prizes, a buy-in putting contest and more – accompanied by a delicious lunch! Tournament format will be a 4-person scramble (best ball). Registration includes lunch and a goodie bag with assorted aids including a mulligan and red tee per player.
Location: Fayetteville, WV
The Active SWV Bridge Day 5K RUN is a run only event across the New River Gorge Bridge. Racers must maintain a jogging pace for the first mile of this event. This event is hosted during the larger Bridge Day event requiring specific racer instructions and guidelines.
