PreventT2 Lifestyle Change is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). This class is proven to prevent or delay the onset of type 2 diabetes. Research shows that modest behavior changes, such as making better food choices and increasing physical activity, reduced the risk of developing type 2 diabetes by 58% in people at high risk for developing this disease.
Active SWV offers regular Prevent T2 classes to the communities we serve at no cost through both our Community Captains and Workplace Wellness programs. This course can be offered virtually, in-person or blended as safety allows. Learn more about Prevent T2 and upcoming classes below.

Prevent T2 classes powered by Active SWV are free and open to residents of the communities we serve. While you do not have to be diagnosed with pre-diabetes to participate, priority may be given to those who are. Spaces may be limited. The NDPP Prevent T2 Lifestyle Change program gives you 1 year of free lifestyle change coaching specific to prediabetes and type 2 diabetes prevention management. Over the course, you’ll receive benefits including:

First 6 months – weekly 1 hour meetings
Last 6 months – monthly 1 hour meetings
When you join a Prevent T2 class, you join a supportive welcoming group to share your wellness journey.
Medical bills of people with diabetes are typically 2-3 times higher than those without (American Diabetes Association, 2014). But prediabetes may be reversed. Prevent T2 helps you make small but significant lifestyle changes to prevent or prolong the onset of type 2 diabetes.
