Annual Volunteer Appreciation Awards

Active SWV is very fortunate to have a passionate and committed group of volunteers and supporters. We are thankful for the time, commitment, and dedication our volunteers have to serving their communities. It is their passion that is building stronger and healthier communities.

This year Active SWV achieved many goals:
  • The first ever Bridge Day 5K that will now become an annual event
  • A partnership with the National Park Service to be the lead organization for volunteer lead programs
  • Expansion in the Community Captains program
  • Expansion in the Kids Run Club programs
  • How-to-steps for small communities to become bicycle friendly accredited
  • The first regional Workplace Wellness program in WV and New River Gorge Health Alliance
“Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.”
Henry Ford

All of this combined resulted in over 3,000 participant hours. Volunteers have impacted the lives of over 1,500 people across Raleigh, Fayette, Nicholas, and Summers Counties. This could not have been achieved without the dedication and commitment of our Community Captains, Run Club Coaches, event volunteers, and program participants as well as all supporting organizations and partners that helped contribute to our success. This group dedicated over 3,000 hours of service to Active SWV, contributing over $61,000 worth of service to our communities.

Active SWV would like to express our deepest gratitude and appreciation for all of the amazing people in the Active SWV community.
