July Community Captain of the Month

Water Aerobics is back!

Active SWV is extremely excited to highlight Crysty Linkenhoker as July Community Captain of the Month. Crysty is back where she belongs, inspiring her community, friends, and family to be physically active through her low impact water aerobics program.

Crysty was born in Pikeville KY but has lived in Hico since she was 5 years old. She decided to become a Community Captain because she really wanted a water aerobics class close to her hometown. When Active SWV did not have a volunteer to lead the program, Crysty stepped up to complete the necessary training and become the leader for her community.

Unfortunately, like many other things, the pandemic took its toll on Crysty’s water aerobics program as we had to pause programming for the safety of the community and our volunteers. But thanks to a great partnership with Fayette County Park, Crysty’s water aerobics program is back in action every Saturday at 10am.

Water Aerobics programs provide fun and friendship while developing and maintaining physical fitness. Water fitness uses the resistance of water to improve flexibility, muscular strength, endurance, balance and coordination.  Our program will promote fitness and fun in the water.
