
The results are in, and we are absolutely buzzing with excitement and pride! This summer, West Virginians from across the state laced up their shoes, hit the trails, and joined our free, six-week Move More Challenge. The goal was simple: to help our communities build healthy habits and get more active. Today, we’re thrilled to share that the results weren’t just good—they were inspiring.
The Numbers Tell an Amazing Story
When we look at the data from this year’s challenge, one thing is clear: you created lasting change. An incredible 97% of participants told us they plan to continue being physically active long after the challenge ended. That’s not just a statistic; that’s a movement!
Here are a few more highlights we just have to celebrate:
- Making Progress: A fantastic 66% of participants finished the challenge moving more than when they started.
- Staying Strong: An impressive 79% of participants showed high engagement, completing five or even all six weeks of the challenge.
As one participant, Kim F. from Morgantown, told us, the challenge was the “needed Kickstart. The support and info was simple and the communication was sufficient and not overbearing.”
Beyond the Movement: Feeling Better Inside and Out
We know that the benefits of an active lifestyle go far beyond just counting steps. It’s about how you feel. The Move More Challenge had a powerful impact on participants’ overall well-being.
- 41% reported an improved mood.
- 53% experienced increased motivation.
- 31% enjoyed better sleep.
We loved hearing from Jenny K. in Charleston, who said, “I really love this program! I thought the emails were very informative and provided extremely useful information. They kept me motivated and I can’t wait for another challenge!”
A Story of Success: Ginger’s Journey
Sometimes, the impact of a program is best told through one person’s story. We were so inspired to hear from Ginger S. in Charleston, who shared her incredible progress with us:
“I have lost 8.5 pounds by gradually increasing my activity. This is very encouraging and has motivated me to continue to increase my activity level.”
