Every Fall and Spring, Active SWV opens applications to the Kids Run Club Mini-grant. We invite schools and community groups throughout WV to apply and receive the Kids Run Club curriculum manual, coaches training, technical support from Active SWV, end of season medals for kids, and $300 in funding to spend on healthy items for the club. All Around West Virginia
This fall, we are excited to have 29 Kids Run Clubs and one Kids Hike Club from all around the state! The groups running this fall are from 15 different counties, including Cabell, Fayette, Greenbrier, Hampshire, Jefferson, Kanawha, Mercer, Mineral, Nicholas, Ohio, Preston, Putnam, Raleigh, Ritchie, and Summers counties.
Off and Running!
Clubs start practicing in September and October. Some groups are just starting up, while others are close to finishing the 6-8 week program with their Fun Run celebrations. All clubs are led by parents and teachers who volunteer their time before or after the school day to make the program possible for kids in their communities.
