WHat is a truck pull?

It’s just what it sounds like! We tie a rope to a fire truck. You and your team work together to move the truck a set distance in the fastest time. Trust us, there’s more strategy to it than you might think. But we’re here to provide tips and tricks.

This competition is perfect for families, gym friends, military, CrossFit, and anyone who wants to test their strength. You’ll be surprised what you can achieve with the teamwork of a few friends.

why participate?

Active SWV works to remove barriers to physical activity to residents of southern WV. One way we do this is by training volunteers to lead free physical activities. Entry fees from the Truck Pull Competition keep these programs free to community members like you.

More importantly, you’re sure to have a ton of fun at the event!

Not sure pulling a fire truck is right for you? We also welcome donations of all sizes, sponsorships, and volunteers! Learn more about other ways to get involved with Active SWV here.

FAQs

Your team can have up to 6 people, and we recommend filling all 6 spaces.

You may be surprised how easily you and your friends can get this truck rolling. We’ve chosen a beginner friendly course, so while your team still competes to be the fastest, we believe most teams will have a strong shot at moving the truck.

Yes! Anyone 10 years or older are invited to participate in the truck pull.

We’ve chosen a nice light firetruck for you, weighing in at 27,000 lbs. Don’t let the weight scare you though! Bring your team and be amazed at your collective strength.

The check-in table will be set up in front of the Tractor Bar from 9:30-10:15am. Stop by to check-in and get your team’s start time. The first team will start at 10:30am. Those interested will have time to run in the St. Paddy’s Day 5k taking place that morning, and we’ll finished in plenty of time for you to enjoy the parade at 1pm and visit the vendors that will be set up all afternoon.

We highly recommend closed toes athletic shoes. Otherwise, dress for the weather, and choose clothes that you’d be comfortable walking or running in.

Not to worry! A member of the Wilderness Volunteer Fire Department will be in the truck the entire time. They will be prepared to hit the breaks at any moment during the pull, and when your team crosses the finish line.
