Welcome India Krawczyk to the Active SWV Team

Serving as the Development and Outreach AmeriCorps VISTA, India Krawczyk has started her one year of service with Active SWV to assist with program development. India will be facilitating volunteer coaches needs with the fall Active SWV Kids Run Club program. Elementary schools across the area will begin the before or after school program in the coming weeks. The Active SWV Kids Run Club program is customized to each school group and held over 6-8 weeks teaching healthy lifestyle skills and building confidence in physical activity. If you would like to learn more about having a club at your school, please contact [email protected].

India comes to southern West Virginia from Rochester, MA where she has been working for Dune Jewelry. She is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Philosophy. India has a personal passion for physical activity, nutrition, running, horseback riding and volunteering.

Her perspective is in line with the mission of Active SWV. Small cumulative efforts through many volunteer hours helps improve the health of southern West Virginian’s in big ways. India’s role at Active SWV will by no means be small though. She is rolling up her sleeves and jumping right into the following position duties:

Work with the volunteer base to educate the public regarding the mission of Active Southern West Virginia and assist the organization in gathering information pertaining to its mission.

Step 1: Create powerful and succinct  presentations to promote Active SWV programs to potential donors, sponsors and partners.

Step 2: Arrange for public meetings in communities across Southern WV and seek state and national channels for support.

Step 3: Train volunteers to maintain a social media presence to connect public with activities that promote healthy lifestyles.

Step 4: Coordinate volunteers gathering information from the public regarding their current outdoor activities, opportunities, obstacles and interests.

“People ask how their singular efforts are really going to help the big picture problems, and so is it really worth doing anything at all? But if everybody thought like that, nothing would ever get done. It seems like progress can actually be made if people stop thinking so hard about the big picture, and put their heads down and do what they can to help, even if it is in small ways.”

Develop system for tracking direct and indirect results of Active Southern West Virginia’s efforts for direct reporting to the public and funding partners and assessment of success in reaching the organization’s mission.

Step 1: Review current systems for reporting.

Step 2: Train volunteers on how to accurately enter information into the reporting system.

Step 3: Develop standard reporting protocols and train volunteers how to create reports.

The Active SWV volunteersCommunity CaptainsKids Run Club coaches, B-PACs, and Workplace Wellness committees are the most important asset in accomplishing the mission of improving the health of the workforce in southern West Virginia. Having the skills, passion, and assistance of India in the coming year will help to improve and grow our volunteer relationships.

Please help us in giving her a warm southern West Virginia welcome!
