Congratulations Niki Kelly, Office Assistant III for WV Division of Rehabilitation Services, the Winner of the Workplace Wellness Blood Pressure Challenge at Region 1 Partners in Action.
“I was motivated to participate in the Blood Pressure Challenge because I know I need to better monitor my blood pressure. I tried to take it at the same time every day and I noted the results in an app on my phone. I noticed that there were one or two days when my BP was high but for the most part it was lower than my normal (my normal still being in pre-hypertension stage). I was pleased with the results and I’m sure my doctor will be too!” Niki Kelly
We’d like to recognize Region 1, Partners in Actions for their efforts to promote health and wellness in the workplace. They extended heart health awareness month into March, so employees had more time to participate in the blood pressure challenge. Blood pressure stations were set up around the building with educational resources provided. Employees were eligible to put their name in a drawing every time they monitored their blood pressure. Region 1, also had WVU extension provide a seminar on heart health called, Love Your Heart. Employees said they enjoyed learning more about how to enhance heart health and the delicious heart healthy cucumber dill dip made by extension agent, Terril Peck.
