Each month of 2020, Active Southern West Virginia offers a new challenge focusing on a different area of physical activity.
This February, our challenge will celebrate National Heart Health Month by focusing on aerobic activity.
According to the CDC, 1 in 3 adults in the United States has high blood pressure, or hypertension. However, you can deter your risk of high blood pressure by incorporating more aerobic activity in your day to day life.
What is Aerobic Activity?
Aerobic activity is any moderately intense activity you can sustain for more than a few minutes at a time. You may know aerobic activity better as “cardio.” Cardio can sound intimidating, but it doesn’t have to be! In fact, even brisk walking can count as cardio, or aerobic activity. Active SWV offers a wide range of aerobic activities, all free to the public. Take your pick from walking, running, water aerobics, pickleball, and more.
The Challenge
Attend as many Active SWV aerobic programs in the month of February as you can. Check out our calendar of free aerobic programs below.
