Spring Kids Run Clubs Conclude

Spring Kids Run Clubs

This spring, Active SWV had ten Kids Run Clubs throughout West Virginia. Thanks to our Kids Run Club mini-grant, Active SWV was able to offer the program to schools outside of our six county footprint. The ten schools with participating Kids Run Clubs this spring were Fayetteville pk-8, Oak Hill Middle School, Fairdale Elementary, Zela Elementary, Anna Jarvis Elementary, Kenna Elementary, Richmond Elementary, Hacker Valley School, Rupert Elementary, and Union Educational Complex.

Summer Activities

This summer, Active SWV will be partnering WVU Extension’s Energy Express program  to have Kids Run Clubs at five sites in Mingo County. Participants will do Kids Run Club activities three days a week as the physical activity component of the Energy Express Curriculum.

Additionally, Active SWV will be contributing a youth agility course to Adventure: Fayette County’s Adventure Days initiative. Adventure Days will take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at rotating  locations in Fayette county. Organizations will offer different activities to engage kids and families outdoors this June and July.

Upcoming Fall Kids Run Club Season

In the fall, Active SWV plans to offer the Kids Run Club mini-grant again to both new and returning schools.

Kids Run Clubs are powered by trained volunteer teachers, parents, and community members. If you would like to have a Kids Run Clubs at your school, please email [email protected] to see how to get started with the free program.
