Meet Victoria Cox- Youth Health Educator for WVU Extension Services
Victoria is a WV native, serving Monroe and Summers Counties as a youth health educator for WVU extension services, and one of our newest volunteer Community Captains. She has been leading hikes in Summers County since November, and has really been choosing some interesting hikes! Her January hike was at Camp Brookside!
Victoria has always enjoyed staying active with her sister, and now they continue to enjoy outdoor activities together. She says they have started incorporating more structured exercise like yoga into their practices. Victoria stays active because, “staying active is a great way to keep you healthy, physically and mentally.”
Victoria joined Active SWV as a volunteer, like many, during the pandemic. Her job incorporated virtual walking challenges, and partnering with Active SWV offered Victoria the chance to bring free in person activity to the participants and her community.
Victoria says that her family helps keep her motivated, as they are always willing to join her in hiking or kayaking. She states, “Having them as a support system makes the activities more fun and encourages me to do them more often.”
Victoria says others should consider joining Active SWV because the activities are family friendly and great options for becoming more physically active. Also, “Active SWV and the people you will meet at events can also help act as a support system to help keep you motivated. “
