Spring 2023 Kids Run Clubs
The Spring Kids Run Club season wrapped up with a total of 22 schools participating.
Congratulations to New River Primary, Princeton Primary, Morgantown Early Learning Facility, Pineville Middle, Eastwood Elementary, Cox Landing Elementary, Village of Barboursville Elementary, Mabscott Elementary, Union Educational Complex, Stanaford Elementary, Rupert Elementary, Kanawha City Elementary, Bluefield Intermediate, George Washington Elementary, Hinton Area Elementary, Ronceverte Elementary, Marlinton Area Community Group, Kenna Elementary, Hilltop Elementary, Straley Elementary, Ridgeview Elementary, and Crescent Elementary for a successful Kids Run Club season!
Across the 22 participating schools, we had 924 participants and over 42 volunteers.
Seven schools were new to the program this season, and fifteen have participated with the program before.
“I would volunteer again. The students had fun and looked forward to it every week. They went to classrooms and talked about the fun they had participating in this healthy activity. Families were so thankful for the run club experience and especially were wowed by the celebration. It feels as though a new tradition could have been started.” Says one coach.
“I absolutely would volunteer again. I was a college runner and running made me who I am today. I learned about self-discipline and what it takes to be successful in the sport. Running will always hold a special place in my heart. I want students to learn the things that running taught me. Running is a sport that one can do their whole lifetime”, said Coach Stephen Starliper at Hinton Area Elementary.
The Kids Run Clubs program runs on volunteers, and Active SWV is so thankful to all of the volunteer Kids Run Club coaches for making the program possible for kids throughout West Virginia. Thank you!
