The Force of Workplace Wellness: Empowering your staff to succeed towards the stars!
Even if you’re busy running around bulls eyeing wamp rats in your T-16, it’s important to focus on your health and wellbeing. May means warmer temperatures and more opportunities to spend time outside being active!
Force in Numbers
When we create a culture of wellbeing at our workplace, we create a lasting network of support comradery between our staff, no matter their position.
Getting leadership buy-in and support at your worksite is crucial to creating this culture. When people in positions of leadership actively participate in Workplace Wellness initiatives, this helps to show their staff that the programming is valuable and worthwhile for them to participate in as well.
Jeremy Morris with Columbia Forest Products (CFP) plans regular events for his staff, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate regardless of their position or shift. Over multiple days, CFP hosted a staff fishing tournament at their onsite lake. Having the event span multiple days allowed staff to participate when they had availability. This also allowed family members to take advantage of the opportunity and join in too.
By giving everyone the opportunity to participate on a day that fits in with their schedule, Jeremy has created a network of friends and coworkers who can get active at work with the support of their leadership.

Staff shout outs
If you have the space at your location, small touches like adding staff shout out boards can work wonders at creating a culture of health at any workplace. When we give staff the opportunity to highlight successes throughout the week, we can help each other feel valued, seen, and appreciated by our coworkers.
This is also a great way to look for office walking, workout, and accountability buddies to help keep you on launching to the moon on your health journey!
Recognizing your team and your efforts
On September 18th at the Resort at Glade Springs, Active SWV will host the West Virginia Workplace Wellness Conference and Awards to recognize and congratulate those who have been making strides towards a healthier workforce at their location! To see if your workplace qualifies for an awards, find the application link here.
This year we are excited to host the conference in conjunction with the Celebrating Healthy West Virginia (CHWV) awards. These awards aim to highlight the efforts communities and organizations have made towards creating a healthier West Virginia! Please join us at the 2024 Workplace Wellness Conference Awards and then stay to honor communities around West Virginia at the CHWV awards.
