June Community Captain of the month Samantha
Samantha strives to live an active lifestyle – from walking her dog around the neighborhood to hiking in the national park, there’s always a way to stay moving! While Samantha enjoys embarking on daily walks or challenging herself in group fitness classes, she first got into cycling in 2021 and bought a used bike online to start this new hobby. Cycling quickly grew into a way for her to connect with the community and see sites she passes by everyday from a different perspective.
“The welcoming and friendly community that Active SWV has created is something I’m so happy I can be part of.” The Active SWV culture makes living an active, healthier lifestyle accessible, attainable, and fun for all West Virginians. Samantha works hard to make sure that her bike rides are the same way and is so happy to volunteer her time to share this space with others in the community.
“My commitment to an active lifestyle is driven by a desire to foster a healthier community, and I stay active because I believe in the impact that an active lifestyle has on overall public health,” says Samantha. Physical activity is a cornerstone of preventing many chronic diseases, including those that have affected her own family for generations. By staying active, Samantha is striving to break the cycle and pave the way for a healthier future for herself and future generations. “Living an active lifestyle enhances my mental well-being, boosts my energy levels, and improves my overall quality of life. “
