Megan Weatherford is our October Community Captain of the Month!
Megan is a momma, wife, and grammie of 3. She works for the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce and New River Gorge CVB. In her free time, Megan enjoys hiking in our beautiful region, roller skating, yoga, swimming, stand up paddle boarding (SUP), puzzles, and trivia.
Megan is active because she learned that it is important for her mental and physical well-being. Megan was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s disease several years ago. Before her diagnosis, Megan knew something was going on with her body and she began making healthy changes. Eating well and being physically active helped Megan feel better. After the diagnosis, she started doing more research and learned even more about the importance of physical activity.
Megan got involved with Active SWV because she fell in love with stand up paddle boarding and heard many people express that they would love to try it, but didn’t think that they could do it. Megan thought more people needed the opportunity to learn how to SUP board and “I knew Active SWV would be an amazing way to give that opportunity to people that did not have the equipment.” Megan also likes encouraging people to make healthier choices.
Megan thinks anyone should join an Active SWV program because it is free and good for your physical, mental, and emotional well-being. “You get amazing opportunities to try things out that you may otherwise never get [to try],” says Megan. It is a fabulous way to be part of healthy social events and meet new people in the community. “Active SWV will change your life!“, says Megan
