October Participants of the Month, Tamara and Robert Evans
Tamara and Robert are lifelong residents of Beckley, West Virginia. About five years ago, they both experienced major health problems and decided to become more active.
Tamara and Robert started by doing hikes sponsored by the National Park Service in the New River Gorge, but then became aware of Active SWV and the volunteer led activities offered. Along with the increased activity, Tamara and Robert enjoy taking in the history and scenery of the beautiful state of West Virginia when they are being active outdoors.
Tamara and Robert routinely attend many programs together, including Active SWV’s Beckley Full Moon Walk/Bike on the MacManus Trail. They have made numerous new friends through attending programs. Tamara and Robert are motivated to stay active by their eight grandchildren – the couple hope to watch them grow up for many years to come.
