What does running the Bridge Day 5k Run look like to you?

“I drew a picture to show the beauty and peace of the river, rocks, and mountains underneath the New River Gorge Bridge. When people run the Bridge Day 5k Run, they will see how beautiful West Virginia is and be filled with peace.”
Description: New River Gorge Bridge high above green mountains, river with rapids, and rocks.

From Kids Run Club to Bridge Day 5k RUN

Emma is a member of the Kids Run Club at her school, and ran the race with her mom, Kimberly. When asked by her mom what her favorite part of the race was, Emma said “Running with you!”

“I can’t agree more!” Says Kimberly. “My favorite part of Bridge Day was watching Emma, who has type 1 diabetes, run a 5k with so much life and joy. I was so proud of her tackling the race and not letting her autoimmune disease slow her down. This memory we made together will one day shape who she becomes. The race has encouraged her to keep running more races, including the upcoming Rim to Rim race.”

“We are so thankful for the opportunity Active WV gave us and for their support to our school Run Club!”

Active SWV is excited to see Emma do big things at the upcoming Rim to Rim race in May!
