Staying Active Year round
As temperatures drop and days grow shorter, it can be challenging to stay active. Fayette County Park offers a unique opportunity to embrace the winter season while staying active and connected to the outdoors. The park offers an 18-hole disc golf course and serene ponds perfect for fishing. Also, with scenic walking trails, open spaces, and seasonal events, the park provides something for everyone—even during the colder months.
Embrace the Outdoors, Even When It’s Cold
The health benefits of staying active are essential year-round, and winter is no exception. Getting outside, even for a short walk or light activity, has been shown to improve mood, boost energy, and support immune health. Fayette County Park is ideal for winter walks, with trails that let you take in the brisk, fresh air and unwind from the stresses of daily life. A brisk walk through the park’s wooded trails or a quick jog can help warm you up and get your heart pumping.
Safety Tips for Winter Exercise
With earlier sunsets and colder weather, a few extra steps can help you stay safe while enjoying outdoor activities:
- Dress in layers to stay warm but breathable.
- Wear reflective clothing and bring a flashlight or headlamp if you’re out during dusk.
- Stay hydrated, as it’s easy to forget to drink water in cooler weather.
- Warm up and stretch beforehand to prevent injuries, as muscles can tighten in the cold.
