Active Southern West Virginia (Active SWV) is dedicated to increasing opportunities for physical activity. This is accomplished through volunteer led free direct programming and health education. By empowering individuals to take charge of their own health, we are able to increase the quality of life and health of the workforce in West Virginia. Over 10 years of providing resources to the community, Active SWV staff and members respond to the needs and feedback of community members. The organization team takes evidence based strategies and interventions and tailors these to the unique landscape and culture in Appalachia.
Skills and experiences you can expect:
- Motivating behavior changes through Appalachian targeted communication
- Pairing data collection in sophisticated software systems with qualitative in person feedback from volunteers and participants for impact evaluation.
- Support volunteers in program development and activation.
- Assess barriers to participation and work with a team to implement strategies for overcoming these barriers.
- Presenting presentations and facilitating collaborative meetings.
- Research funding opportunities to support community based physical activity programming.
