The Kids Run Club Program is Going Strong!
Active SWV kicked off 2025 by launching the spring cycle of the Kids Run Club Mini-Grant in February. Now that warmer weather is setting in, schools and community groups throughout the state are beginning their spring Kids Run Club seasons.

Volunteers Make it all Possible
Active SWV provides schools and groups with training, support, and funding, but the Kids Run Club program wouldn’t be possible without the teacher, parent, and community volunteers who facilitate the program for their kids. See what some volunteer coaches had to say about their experience leading a Kids Run Club this past season, fall of 2024:
“I would absolutely volunteer again. The program was fun at start, but now that I am on year three and have fallen into my own rhythm with my team, we have made it our own. It is so much fun.” – Kara Vance, Kenna Elementary
“I enjoyed the experience. I think it’s great to be able to get kids running at an early age because it will help them in other sports, it doesn’t cost a lot to do, and is something they can do their entire lifetime, and can do on their own.” – Mike Taylor, Explorer Academy
“Kids Run Club has shown our students, some of which had never played any type of organized sport, how they can be physically active on their own and shows them easy ways to invite others to be physically active with them.” – Amber Mitchell, Ridgeview Elementary
Start a Kids Run Club
If you missed out on this round of Mini-Grants but are still interested in starting a Kids Run Club at your school, don’t worry! Active SWV runs the Mini-Grants twice a year, and the next round will launch in August to support fall Kids Run Clubs.
