Summersville’s Kathy Bucks is Active SWV November Community Captain of the Month
Meet Kathy Bucks, a Mingo County native who grew up mostly in Nicholas County, and returned to Summersville after obtaining her physical therapy degree. Kathy treated local patients for 25 years. She spends her time now farming, volunteering in her church and community, horseback riding, enjoying the lake, snow-skiing, and grandchildren.
Kathy is the driving force behind Active SWV pickleball in Summersville in the gym at the Old Main building. She is a wonderful instructor and takes time with new players to make them feel welcome as well as learn the game of pickleball.
Kathy stays active for both mental and physical health. She also loves encouraging others to take control of their own health with physical activity.
Kathy stays motivated because she says, “Use it or lose it, I don’t want to lose it.” She knows that the benefits of regular physical activity programming mean greater longevity for her.
Kathy recommends anyone to join an Active SWV free program for “optimal physical and emotional well-being. No cost, just benefits!”
