Bella Green is Active SWV August Community Captain of the Month!
Bella Green is from Raleigh County, West Virginia. She is currently a student at Glenville State University, where she’s studying Wildlife Management.
Bella says being active has always been a part of her life. She grew up in an active household, both of her parents are CrossFit coaches, so staying active was just a normal part of growing up. She says being outdoors and exercising is her therapy and one of her favorite ways to relieve stress. Today, she’s a collegiate track and field athlete at Glenville State University, where she competes in the discus, hammer, and javelin.
During the fall, Bella was looking for community service opportunities through AmeriCorps when she found an internship with Active SWV, hosted by Conservation Legacy. She says she fell in love with the organization on her very first day. “Finding places to be active isn’t always easy, so being able to help create those opportunities for others is really meaningful. I love giving back to my community and helping people live healthier, more active lifestyles,” she says.
Bella says staying active has become a part of who she is. It keeps her physically and mentally healthy, gives her a chance to spend time outdoors, and helps her work toward her goals as a collegiate track and field athlete. She says she’s motivated by wanting to be the best version of herself and hopes that by living an active lifestyle, she can inspire others to get outside and find an activity they enjoy.
Bella believes everyone should give an Active SWV program a try. She understands firsthand what it’s like to have limited access to places and opportunities to be active. “Having an organization like Active SWV in the community is amazing. It helps people get moving, try new things, and build healthier habits. It really does make a difference in so many people’s lives,” she says.
