She has since facilitated at multiple outdoor education programs throughout New England before returning home to southern West Virginia. Most recently she developed and directed Camp Drift-A-Bit, an outdoor adventure summer program for children in southern WV.

Favorite outdoor activity: “I love any adventure I can take with my dog, Gnarly. He’s my hiking, SUP boarding, and cycling buddy.”

The Active SWV Community Captain volunteers are engaging family, friends, neighbors, and co-works in a routine of physical activity. Veronica will assist Erin Reid, Volunteer Director, with recruiting and training in addition to finding new facility partners to offer safe places for programs. Veronica will be available to travel to meet with anyone interested in learning more about free leadership training.

Communities can come together around their local governments in the form of Active SWV BPACs (Bicycle, Pedestrian Action Committees) to advance local strategies and infrastructure improvements for walk-ability and bike-ability in their neighborhoods. Summersville, Fayetteville, Oak Hill, and Hinton have been identified by Active SWV to receive free technical assistance. Residents are encouraged to contact Veronica to learn more about engaging with these city officials.

With more elementary schools realizing the positive ripple effects of the Active SWV Kids Run Club program led by AmeriCorp VISTA member India Krawczyk, we will be adding Veronica to the staff team meeting the needs of growing clubs and training new coaches.

Active SWV has grown over the last 5 years to include a generous board of directors, dynamic staff, passionate volunteers, and determined participants.
