Active SWV Races bring quality fundraising race events to southern West Virginia. These fee based races raise funds for the free programs of Active SWV while providing more opportunity for family friendly and beginner racers. Each Race Event has its own page to learn more. Location: New River Gorge National Park and Preserve and Adventures on the Gorge
The New River Gorge Rim to Rim Race is a 6 mile running road race from one rim of the New River Gorge, down to the bottom where you’ll cross over the New River, then back to the rim of the other side with a short trail section to finish. This bucket list event will provide runners with breathtaking views throughout the course in the adventure sports capital of West Virginia – Fayetteville.
Rim 2 Rim is part of the West Virginia Wild & Wonderful Race Series. Complete races in different regions to earn commemorative prizes!

Location: Thurmond, WV
Join us for the Thurmond Triathlon, a beginner-friendly event in the heart of historic Thurmond! Immerse yourself in the rich history and breathtaking scenery while biking, paddling, and running through one of the most iconic spots in West Virginia.
Location: Bridge Brew Works
Join us for an exhilarating adventure amidst the breathtaking scenery of the Wolf Creek Trails in Fayetteville, WV, as we present the Star Spangled Races at Wolf Creek Trails 5K and 15K Run powered by Active SWV races. The Fire Cracker 5K and the Seldom Seen 15K will start and finish at Bridge Brew Works. Both these races offer a blend of challenge and excitement as you navigate through a lush-wooded area and rolling trails. Kids ages 12 and under get to race in the 5K for FREE.
Location: Lake Stephens
Active SWV Races in conjunction with Raleigh County Parks Beach Bash Party is holding a 5K race for all you running sharks out there. There will also be a free kids’ race for all the minnows wanting to test their fins prior to the beach bash. Come out to this family friendly event and enjoy all Lake Stephens has to offer.
Location: Fayetteville, WV
The Active SWV Bridge Day 5K RUN is a race across the New River Gorge Bridge. Racers must maintain a jogging pace for the first mile of this event. This event is hosted during the larger Bridge Day event requiring specific racer instructions and guidelines.
Bridge Day 5K is part of the West Virginia Wild and & Wonderful Race Series. Complete races in different regions to earn commemorative prizes.
Location: Fayette County Park
Walk or run as many laps as you like for one hour. This is not a timed race and there are not awards. Children 10 and under are free. $10 per person. Stroller friendly. There will be an Ugly Sweater contest.

The Wild and Wonderful Race Series is more than just a partnership of local races; it’s a movement that encourages racers to get to know different regions of the state.
Complete races in 3 out of 4 of the regions and receive a commemorative t-shirt. Complete at least one race in each of the 4 regions, and you’ll earn the t-shirt and a commemorative hoody. The four regions include Fayetteville, Tucker County, Elk River Trail, and Cass/Marlington. Our two eligible races are the Bridge Day 5k and the Rim to Rim Race.
