We are excited to announce active youth and families fundraising for more area kids runs.
Registration funds from this Glow Run will go directly to our Active SWV Kids Running Club program. We are working hard to provide a monthly kids run in a different community around our four county region. In 2016, Active SWV will offer Kids Running Clubs in area elementary schools. Your contribution to this event will have a lasting impact on developing active lifestyle practices within our youth. Additional donations greatly needed.
The first pilot program was held at Valley Elementary School and more of those details are here.
On October 24th, Active SWV will host it’s first direct fundraiser. Many of our previous events and programs have benefited other organizations, but now is a chance to give back to one of our proudest initiatives, Active SWV Kids Run.
Race Description:
Active Southern West Virginia is focused on creating opportunities for communities to become more physically active. This becomes a challange with the change of seasons and decreased daylight hours. Active SWV will host this Glow Run to provide a fun and safe event for people to be active even after the sun goes down.
Register online for $17.50 or on site the day of the race for $20.00 from 4:30pm-5:30pm. The race begins at 6:00pm.
Everyone is required to have a headlamp or flashlight. If you would like to see the course before the event, please meet our Community Captain Hilary on Mondays at 5:30pm at the Fayetteville Town Park. The group meets at the second entrance by the National Park Service trail head.
Wear bright, neon colors and plan to stay after the run for a family friendly dance party hosted by the Ansted Middle School Show Choir. This group performs modern songs and highly encourages dancing along with them.
This is a trail run with slippery conditions, rocks, roots, leaves, and stumps. Walking is advised in areas of rough terrain. Participants under the age of 12 need a guardian running/walking with them. There will be a lead racer to follow, volunteers throughout the route, and a safety person following last.
