Active SWV is very excited to highlight Community Captain of the Month, Crysty Linkenhoker. Crysty is a dedicated Community Captain that has recently expanded her her programs to six a week.
Crysty was born in Pikeville, KY, but has lived in Hico since she was 5 years old. She decided to become a Community Captain because she really wanted a water aerobics class close to her home town. When Active SWV did not have a volunteer to lead the program, Crysty stepped up to complete the necessary training and become the leader for her community. The water aerobics program quickly became a community favorite at Hawks Nest State Park’s outdoor swimming pool this past summer. When the season changed from summer to fall it was time to move her class indoors. The Holiday Lodge Hotel in Oak Hill graciously offered their facilities to be able to offer this amazing program. Crysty quickly realized there was a slight issue, the pool was not as big as the previous one and her program was still growing. She decided it was time to expand and Holiday Lodge was eager to accommodate expanding to 2 programs every Tuesday and Thursday at 10 and 11am. She didn’t stop there, Crysty continued her training, gaining a group fitness certificate. Our good friends at Hawks Nest State Park were there for us again willing to donate space for Crysty to offer an evening low impact/chair fitness program on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6pm. We are not sure how she gets it all accomplished but we are honored to have such a hard working, caring and dedicated person on our team.
Thank you Crysty for all you do for Active SWV and your community.
