Active SWV is pleased to introduce April Community Captain of the Month, Linda Stein. Linda has been a Community Captain with Active SWV for a number of years. Linda likes to hike in the New River Gorge and is very knowledgeable about the region’s history and nature.
Linda is a great asset to our community. She strives to help to improve not just the health of the folks in the region but to improve the quality of life for everyone. You will see her face at many programs and events around the region as she loves to encourage and help her community.
Linda moved to the region in the late 1970’s and works in a health center with people who have chronic conditions like diabetes. She partnered with Active SWV to help people better manage their chronic conditions. She encourages people to get out and be active.
“We live in a beautiful area with so many opportunities to be active! The outdoors is our greatest resource. I always look forward to seasonal activities, like paddle boarding on Summersville Lake in summer, wildflower walks in spring, snowshoeing in winter, and hiking or biking all year round.”
Linda is also a great mentor to new Community Captains that are just starting to lead programs with Active SWV. She is a great asset to new Community Captains to help strengthen thier skills and knowledge base.
Linda can often be found hiking on the trails with her husband Dan. She says, “Luckily my husband also likes to be active in the outdoors so we are active together!” So, if you see Linda out there on the trails say “Hi” and thank her for all the amazing things she is doing to improve her community’s health and overall well being through all the work she does not only with Active SWV but the many other organizations.
