Looking Ahead: Fall Kids Run Clubs
Summer activities are wrapping up and the fall Kids Run Club season is just around the corner!
Active SWV established the Kids Run Club program in 2015 with one pilot club, and the program has since grown to reach over 30 schools and community groups throughout West Virginia. With our comprehensive Kids Run Club manual providing structure for all clubs, trained volunteers lead groups of kids through activities outlined in the manual. Through these activities, kids learn lifelong skills and build confidence in their physical activity abilities.
The goal of the Kids Run Club program is for kids to have fun with physical activity and have a positive team experience. It’s important to Active SWV that the program is offered for free so that all children have an opportunity to participate.
Fall Kids Run Club Mini-Grant Now Open!
When we say we want all kids to be able to participate, we mean it! Active SWV is passionate about sharing the Kids Run Club program structure with new schools so they can offer the program to their students as well.
This fall, Active SWV will again be offering the Kids Run Club mini-grant. All West Virginia schools and community groups are invited to apply and receive funding and resources to support their new or returning Kids Run Clubs. The grant includes:
- Zoom Kids Run Club Coaches training to volunteers
- Manuals mailed to all coaches
- ASWV provides end of season shirts and medals
- Technical support from Active SWV throughout
- $250 Funding to spend on exercise equipment and/or other healthy items for the club
To receive the Kids Run Club Grant, applicants must:
- Offer the program for free to participants
- All participants fill out the Active SWV waiver
- Volunteers keep a roster and weekly attendance sheet to share with Active SWV
- Administer the pre and post surveys to the participants
