Active SWV’s Rising Star
Active Southern West Virginia proudly welcomes Brandon Mehlinger as its newest full-time employee. What began as a year-long AmeriCorps VISTA role has now blossomed into a full-time position as Program Coordinator, a testament to Brandon’s unwavering commitment and outstanding contributions to the organization. As he steps into this pivotal role, Brandon is poised to continue to help improve and expand Active SWV’s reach with the full staff.
A Diverse Portfolio of Responsibilities
Brandon’s influence within Active SWV spans across every program area, demonstrating his remarkable versatility. He works with the Community Captain Director, where he oversees the website calendar, ensuring that each program is listed correctly. His leadership extends to the Kids Run Club program, where he helps lead volunteer coach training, has coached at multiple schools himself, and helps with data collection and entry. Brandon’s meticulous attention to detail is evident as he supports micro-program challenges within the Workplace Wellness program, forging strong connections in the area. He even fills in as a Community Captain whenever needed for our running groups. Furthermore, he exhibits an uncanny ability to identify funding opportunities and maintains a pulse on the national running race scene, ensuring Active SWV Races remain at the forefront of people‘s radar.

One of Brandon’s standout qualities is his commitment to engaging and supporting the public. He encourages individuals and businesses to get involved with Active SWV’s initiatives.
