Meet Active SWV’s February Participant of the Month, Duane Bragg!
Duane was born in Clay County, WV and moved around with his family during childhood. He is a graduate of Richwood High School, a Navy veteran, and had degrees from Glenville State University and Mountain State University. Duane worked full time while pursuing these degrees, and some of his career choices have included being a propane truck driver, a real estate agent, a substitute school teacher, the Director of Operations for Bright Horizons, and a business owner. Duane is a member of the VFW, volunteers to drive his convertible in local parades, and volunteers as a local handyman for those in the community that need his help.
Duane is active because he loves participating in sports. Through the years, he has participated in a variety of sports, including basketball, softball, football, and baseball. He learned to play tennis at WVU Tech, and was even a member of his college swim team!
Duane is motivated to stay active because he loves competition. He struggles when he’s not active, and finds that he needs an outlet for his energy, which Pickleball and other activities provide.
Duane has been attending the Active SWV pickleball program in Ansted, and has several who join him in the group including his friends Killan and Dave. Duane would encourage others to join Active SWV free activity programs because of the fun, nice people you’ll meet when you attend. Duane wishes he had known about it 27 years ago when he retired from the US Navy.
Duane recently downloaded the Active SWV MemberPlus app, which enables him to see all of the free Pickleball and other Active SWV programs in the area, and register to attend ahead of time. To get started with your membership on our free app, click here.
