Tara Kincaid is the Active SWV Community Captain of the Month
Tara grew up in northeast Pennsylvania. She moved to southern West Virginia just before turning eighteen. She’s lived away a few times since then, but has always come back to the area.
For years, Tara had a physically demanding job. However, about eight years ago, she completely transitioned to a desk-bound job. This change, coupled with the effects of aging, has significantly impacted her physical health. Consequently, Tara came to the realization that she needs to reintroduce physical activity into her routine.
Tara became an Active SWV volunteer because after trying the gym and liking it in some ways, it was not for her. She wanted to find something she enjoys. There weren’t any Refit classes in Fayette County, so she volunteered! “Being an instructor also keeps me showing up,” Tara says. “I know other people depend on me being there, so even on the days I try to make excuses, I get my butt there anyway.”
Tara thinks others should join an Active SWV free program because Active SWV is great! There are so many opportunities… and it’s free!!
