Meet our Community Captain of the Month for July, Neil Lemrow

From Participant to Volunteer, meet Community Captain of the Month Neil
Neil is a great example of participation leading to volunteer service with Active Southern West Virginia.  He started his journey participating with the Fayetteville Running group, and now leads multiple activities of his own including stand up paddle boarding.

Read what Neil has to say about hos journey to becoming a Community Captain below.

My name is Neil Lemrow and I’m from South Bend Indiana. I started becoming active after I found an advertisement for a run club through Active Southern West Virginia. Everyone I met was so encouraging and supportive as I started my running journey from 5k to 50k! I wanted to help others to enjoy a fun new activity that would not only help them to keep moving but also find a network of amazing people focused on helping others too. The friends I made help me stay active and with the number of volunteer organized groups Active offers there are plenty of opportunities to engage with other encouraging and motivating people. Attending Active events really changed the landscape of my life for the better and all I had to bring to the table was participation. I’m glad I made the decision to attend and the people I met made it easy to continue to be a part of Active Southern West Virginia.

Come join Neil at Kanawha Falls on July 15 for stand up paddle boarding, and be sure to check our website calendar for other upcoming activities.
