Laura will be working full time at our Beckley office and out meeting with businesses to facilitate the Active Southern West Virginia Workplace Wellness program.
Active SWV Community Captains lead free activities of interest to them, in places and times convenient to them and inviting for their families, friends and neighbors. This peer-to-peer approach enables every day people to become leaders of health in their communities.
In Mount Hope, WV a vibrant mural resides on a main street building. “The Mount Hope Phoenix Wall”, by Ian Bode and Brian Pickens, is a visual representation depicting a town that rose from the ashes after the fire of 1910.
By focusing on kids’ health, the ActiveSWV Kids Run Club program helps achieve the organization’s overall mission to improve the health and longevity of the workforce in the region by engaging in future workforce development.
We are excited to announce that the first winner of the 2018 Active SWV Bridge Day 5k Youth Essay contest is Chase Ayers!
The Active SWV Kids Run Program seeks to improve the health outcomes of southern West Virginian youth by empowering them with the opportunities, skills, and knowledge to be physically active.
This program will provide structure and support for a multi-year approach to increase physical activity in the workplace by utilizing a score card to measure results.
Peggy is a shining example of someone who is overcoming her own barriers to physical activity and also inspiring others along her way.
The Active SWV’s Kids Run Club program works with elementary schools throughout Raleigh, Summers, Nicholas, and Fayette counties, striving to remove barriers to living healthy lifestyles, and enabling kids to lead active lives.
