Active SWV has had the dream of offering a free water aerobics program in our area for a long time.
Active SWV is pleased to highlight Jennifer Scott as the July Community Captain of the Month. Jennifer volunteers to lead stand up paddle boarding for Active SWV because she loves to introduce people to water activity.

Andrew Davis has served as Active Southern West Virginia’s Pedestrian, Bike and Trail Coordinator for over two years.
In a joint effort to improve the range of multimodal transportation opportunities throughout the greater Beckley area, city officials and the leadership of the New River Transit Authority operated by Raleigh County Community Action agreed to work together to acquire and install external bike racks on the vehicles used by the New River Transit Authority.
Assembling people to form a Bicycle and Pedestrian Action Committee (BPAC) is a common approach to making progress which connects community members with local authorities to assess conditions and create plans for improvement.
Summer days are upon us and we all want to get active outdoors. The benefits to exercising and playing outside are outstanding for mental and physical health, however, everyone needs to be extremely vigilant about ticks.
