Whether your work life has changed or not, most all of us are under additional stress these days. Often, stepping away for a bit is the best way to refocus.

The ‘Virtual’ edition of the Kids Run Club program allows kids to be active safely from home, and then log their activity on a shared online platform to stay connected to the Kids Run Club community.

We’ve all found ourselves cooped up a whole lot more during the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of the things that motivated us before, such as group exercise, traveling to beautiful locations to run/bike/hike, gym memberships, races, and events have all been impacted.

The influence of John Henry’s hard work and perseverance can still be seen in the town of Talcott. Active SWV’s partners at Sprouting Farms are proof of that. Sprouting Farms is a four-season non-profit farm and an education and resource center located in Summers County, WV.

Community Captain Mara Petretich is a volunteer for Active SWV, leading activities including biking and SUP. She also has a passion for nutrition and cooking for and with her family. Here is her recipe for Zuppa Toscana soup that has ingredients that are accessible during our time of social distancing and travel restrictions.

Active Southern West Virginia is redirecting funding and collecting additional donations to support feeding programs across the state during Covid-19.

Let’s get active safely! Due to COVID-19 and CDC guidelines aimed at curbing the spread of the virus, after school activities including the Active SWV Kids Run Clubs have been cancelled. Active SWV wants to make sure kids can still have some of the structure and support being part of a sport provides. To achieve this, Active SWV is launching our Spring 2020 Kids Run Club program – virtual edition!

This spring, Active SWV’s Regional Fun Run Event is going virtual! The event has a youth 1-mile dash option as well as a community 5k walk/run, and is open to and adult or child in the community who would like to participate.

The Move Your Way(sm) challenge provides posters, videos, and online interactive tracker to build a weekly plan of physical activity. This interactive activity tracker gives you a list of all the ways your body can move during the day; walk, dance, jump rope, garden, house chores, and many more.
