Active SWV would like to highlight Aletha Stolar and Patsieann Misiti as January Community Captains of the Month.
Active SWV is proud to have REFIT Beckley as part of our team so we would like to say “Thank You” by declaring Team REFIT as Community Captains of the Month. Team REFIT joined Active SWV in July of 2017 and have been growing and going strong ever since.
Joe and Jenni Canterbury appreciate that Active Southern West Virginia helps to connect our community with healthy activities, making opportunities for exercise more accessible.
Active SWV Community Captains lead free activities of interest to them, in places and times convenient to them and inviting for their families, friends and neighbors. This peer-to-peer approach enables every day people to become leaders of health in their communities.
September 21st is the day to get active! The Road Runners Club of America (RRCA) is presenting their 13th annual Run@Work Day, and their 7th annual Run@School Day.
Meet Pat Gagan, Community Captain of the Month for September. Pat recently moved to the area and has been very active in the outdoors all of his life.
Active Southern West Virginia provides free physical activity opportunities and often these activities take place outdoors and year round.
Active SWV has had the dream of offering a free water aerobics program in our area for a long time.
Active SWV is pleased to highlight Jennifer Scott as the July Community Captain of the Month. Jennifer volunteers to lead stand up paddle boarding for Active SWV because she loves to introduce people to water activity.
Assembling people to form a Bicycle and Pedestrian Action Committee (BPAC) is a common approach to making progress which connects community members with local authorities to assess conditions and create plans for improvement.
